Who We Are Looking For

AfriThrive is seeking individuals from diverse backgrounds with varied skill sets, perspectives, and
voices. We thrive on passion for advocacy and commitment to tackling food injustice and health
disparities. Candidates from all communities are encouraged to apply, especially those with expertise In:

Financial Management and Fundraising

Budgeting, grant writing, and securing long-term funding.

Strategic Partnerships and Community Engagement

Developing partnerships with local and national organizations.

Marketing and Communications

Amplifying AfriThrive’s mission through strategic messaging and outreach.

Public Health, Education, and Nutrition

Expertise in addressing social determinants of health.

Agriculture and Food Systems

Knowledge in sustainable farming and food equity.

What’s Expected of Board Members?

The AfriThrive Board provides strategic guidance and supports organizational initiatives.

Members are expected to:

Attend quarterly board meetings (virtual or in-person).
Dedicate approximately 6–8 hours per quarter to Board activities, including meetings and follow-up tasks.
Provide expert advice in areas critical to AfriThrive’s success.
Act as ambassadors for the organization, raising awareness and fostering relationships with funders, partners, and stakeholders.

Assist with fundraising efforts and contribute personal or professional networks to advance AfriThrive’s mission.
Make a meaningful annual contribution and encourage others to support AfriThrive.
Engage in special committees or projects as needed.
Help AfriThrive remain responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities in the non-profit and community development sectors.

Board members serve for a three-year term, with the option to renew up to two times.
